23rd September 2015

To date the Rugeley & Chase Gazette have printed an article, The Staffordshire Newsletter is going to publish an article either this week (23rd Sept) or next week both want to run with this project.
Network Rail have been contacted to see if 'in principle' the antlers could be re hung on their bridge. There are 'other ways' to site them if they were to say no.
The museum of Cannock Chase is going to allow myself and if possible Andy DeComyn to visit and take photos of the antlers, Andy has said he has contacts if needed who could repair / make a replica and give an idea of the cost of the project.

Rugeley man launches campaign to get historical 'antlers' reinstalled on town bridge .

A RUGELEY resident is campaigning for a historical and iconic lamp-holder to be reinstalled on a bridge in the town.

Following the success of a campaign to get a miners' memorial on the Globe Island, Dave Lucas has embarked on a mission to have what locals know as 'the antlers' reinstalled on the north side of the railway bridge.

The antlers, which are actually a metal structure resembling antlers, are believed to have been cast around 1880 and originally held two gas lamps. They were later converted for electric lights, but removed sometime in the 1970s.

Mr Lucas, of Springfield Avenue, said: "Part of our heritage in Rugeley are the antlers that hung on the north side of 'The Bridges'. These antlers were removed in the early 70's and sadly are in a state of disrepair.
